ADAM Hockey grabbed a 96th minute winner as Hereford Lads Club claimed a dramatic win over Wellington West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

Hockey's strike went through a crowd of players to gift his side their second 2-1 win over Wellington this season.

On a blustery evening, good football was always going to be difficult, although both sides gave 100% commitment in a keenly contested game.

Wellington took the lead on 21 minutes.

A free-kick midway inside the Lads Club half was floated in to the penalty area and Steve Goodwin rose highest to loop a header into the net.

However, Lads Club got back on level terms only five minutes later.

A mix in up in the Wellington defence saw the ball land at the feet of Kalum Wildig, who unleashed a powerful left footed half volley into the top corner.

The rest of the half was quite quiet with only a couple of half chances to note falling to Wellington but not converted.

The second half was quite poor in terms of quality, but the commitment from the players was there.

In truth, Lads Club created most of the chances but were unable to take any and it looked like the game would finish in a stalemate.

Seven minutes from time, a corner from Lads Club was floated over, and a powerful header from close range was superbly tipped onto the bar by Wellington goalkeeper Martin Francis, with the resulting rebound being cleared off the line.

Wellington had a chance to grab the winner in stoppage time, but a shot went wide and it was Lads Club who ended up claiming all three points.

Lads Club are seven points ahead of Wellington in 10th place, although they have played four more games.
