KINGTON Town manager Sam Bowen said it was 'massive' to beat fellow West Midlands (Regional) League Division One strugglers Willenhall Town.

The Yellows – who had only picked up six points prior to last Saturday's game – dominated throughout and fully deserved their 3-0 win.

"It was all about getting three points but fortunately they put in a performance because I think we played them off the park," said Bowen.

"Our emphasis is belief and to be honest.

"It came out and I thought we were by far the better side.

"Since I have been here, I didn't realise just how much three points meant until I lost the first two games.

"But I'm more than happy with that.

"Three points is massive against a team that's down there with us."

Bowen felt that all his players put a good shift in.

"I thought Lewis Phillips and Matty Watkins were superb, likewise Brian Dyer and Ryan Nicholas," said Bowen

"But I couldn't pick a man-of-the-match because I thought they were all good.

"We moved the ball a lot of quicker and what we've done in training was replicated on the pitch."

Josh Tomkins sealed the win in the second half with Kington's third goal.

And he believes Bowen has instilled some passion into the team.

"It's finally nice to pick up three points and hopefully we can go on a run now," said Tomkins.

"The aim at the start of the season was to finish as high as we could and potentially go for the league.

"But now we've got the new manager in, hopefully we can push on.

"All he asks for is honesty and passion and I think that's what we gave him and hopefully we can give it him for the rest of the season."

Tomkins linked up with the returning Tom Murphy, who also bagged a goal.

"It's nice to play with Tom," added Tomkins.

"We linked up well and I could have had a few goals in the first half.

"But it was nice to get on the scoresheet in the end.

"Three points gives us the confidence we need and hopefully until Christmas, we can go on a run."

Kington had chances to open the scoring through Tomkins and Watkins before Phillips broke the deadlock with a cracking strike in the 27th minute.

Murphy – who should have scored with a header – doubled the advantage nine minutes later after getting on the end of a free-kick.

Kington then rattled the crossbar after Tomkins had a shot saved before Kington made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute.

Tomkins rifled the ball home after Cuss placed the ball into his path.

Cuss should have got on the scoresheet 13 minutes from time but blazed over, but it did not matter as Kington eased to a comfortable win.
