HEREFORD FC have won the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Personality of the Year Award.

The Bulls have a great 2017, claiming another promotion and getting through to the second round of the FA Cup.

Hereford claimed 30% of the public vote and beat competition from Bromsgrove Sporting FC, Daryl Mitchell, Droitwich RFC, Evie Richards and Johnny Arr.

Hereford have been awarded the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Personality of the Year award.

And it was also a good night for Luctonians, who were named Community Club of the Year at the ceremony at Sixways Stadium in Worcester.

Stephen Brewster, CEO, of the Sports Partnership said: "This has been our most successful awards to date.

"We received hundreds of nominations and 2,641 members of the public voted for the ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ Award.

"I am always so inspired by the commitment of the athletes to their sport but also to the coaches and volunteers who give up their time to support the growth and development of local talent."

Elswhere, female coach of the year went to Melinda Bennett of Colwall & Malvern Hockey Club.


Another hockey winner was Kinslgnad Mini Hockey and Leominster Hockey Club's Ian Johnson, who was named Unsung Hero of the Year.
 

Guest speaker was hockey gold-winning Olympian Kate Richardson-Walsh.

"Having retired from international hockey, I am determined to turn my experience towards coaching and encouraging the grassroots development of hockey," she said.

"I am heartened to see the passion for sport that exists within Herefordshire & Worcestershire."
