ROSS Juniors Football Club have won £5,000 after winning an award.

The club, which is based at Ross Sport Centre, is now able to buy three shelters to protect more than 400 players between four and 16-year-old years after receiving the OneFamily Foundation prize.

Debbie Flitney, who has a Child Trust Fund with OneFamily for her son and daughter, put the club forward because her husband Paul has been a coach there for seven years.

Paul said: “During the winter months, the children play in all weather conditions and the subs on the sidelines really suffer in the rain and cold.

“Some of the younger players have even been put off due to the awful weather, so we hope the new shelters will encourage more children to get involved.

“We’re grateful to every who took time to support us in the voting stage.”

The OneFamily Foundation allows for customers of the financial service company to support local projects by winning up to £25,000.

OneFamily’s Guy French said: “Ross Juniors already works with hundreds of youngsters from the community, and it’s great to know this new equipment will encourage more to get involved.”
