GOALKEEPER Ethan Ross says he would love to extend his stay at Hereford.

The West Bromwich Albion stopper has been brought into the fold due Martin Horsell being unavailable and Oliver Davies leaving the club.

Ross played in Wednesday night's 5-1 loss to Cardiff City Under-23s and will play again on Monday night against Gloucester City.

"If the opportunity is there for me, I will definitely like to stay and I feel I have more to give," said Ross.

"I have come to a fantastic a club and a club that shouldn't be at this level.

"I can see that it's on an upward rise just by looking at the ground and the set-up.

"This club is a sleeping giant and it can go a long way.

"So to be a part of Hereford will be a real pleasure for me."

Ross is fourth choice keeper at West Brom behind Ben Foster, Boaz Myhill and Alex Palmer and is part of the Under-23 set-up at The Hawthorns.

"I know I have to bide my time and play as many games as possible and get that experience," added Ross.

The 20-year-old keeper had a tough night on Wednesday, with some supporters believing he could have done better with some of the goals.

However, Ross believes it was a good work-out for Hereford against a very good side.

"They are a full-time side from a very decent league," said Ross.

"It was going to be a bit of a mismatch at times, but I still think we need to push on and defend well and try and be dominant when we can because they had some young lads in there as well.

"It was a tough game, but it was a good run out and gives us a benchmark to see where we're at and we now move onto Monday.

"People often say the timing of the goals and those two goals killed us without a doubt.

"If we had gone in half-time at 1-1, it could have been a completely different game, but the goals we conceded were poor.

"We will look at them and see how we can improve that."

Hereford manager Pete Beadle said the club will be looking to tie him down.

"We are probably looking to do something more longer term because there aren't a huge abundance of goalkeepers that we could easily pick up, they have been snapped up already because we're so close to the season," said Beadle.

"He would have loved the experience of actually going out and playing in proper game and hopefully he will do the same on Monday.

"I don't think he had much chance with too many of the goals and what he did do, he did quite well.

"His hands were good, he kicked quite well and we will have another look at him on Monday."
