HEREFORD FC bounced back from last night's defeat against AFC Wulfrunians by comfortably beating Lads Club 6-1.

Ryan Green, Rob Purdie, Mark Preece, Calvin Dinsley, Jamie Molyneux and Mike Symons all played for Hereford, while manager Pete Beadle gave a number of youngsters first team experience.

Dan Pugh and Ben Hayes particularly impressed for the Bulls, with both players getting on the scoresheet.

Lads Club had no answer for Hereford's quality at times, but tonight's game will still go down as a milestone in the club's history.

Former player Kevin Sheedy - who went on to have a successful career at Everton after also starring for Hereford - was on hand to officially open Lads Club's new stand.

A crowd of around 350 watched the game, with floodlights now installed at the ground.

On the pitch, new recruits Lewis Fletcher and Lewis Clarke started, as did Carlos Moreira, who could sign for the club by the end of the week.

Hereford opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Symons charged forward before powerfully driving home before Purdie doubled the advantage 13 minutes before the break.

His free-kick deceived everyone and flew past Lads Club goalkeeper Steven Bell.

The game was effectively over two minutes into the second half when Pugh was on hand to drill home.

Bell then saved well to deny Molyneux a goal shortly afterwards, but the former Westfields marksman did get his goal in the 51st minute from close range.

It was 5-0 eight minutes later when Symons converted a penalty, before Lads Club were awarded a spot-kick after a handball was spotted; Rory Worthing scored the penalty.

But it was Hereford who scored again thanks to an excellent strike from Hayes.
