LADS Club player-manager Danny Moon said quality told in the end as Hereford FC retained the HFA County Challenge Cup with a 3-0 win.

Moon said he was disappointed with the goals conceded and it was a pity his side did not score.

"We had our two chances but didn't take them and we've not defended properly from a set piece and we got punished," said Moon.

"But that's the quality of Hereford and it is a three league difference.

"We're disappointed and I don't think the third goal was a penalty, but we've come here , we've had a go but fell short in the end.

"We snatched at our chances and fitness is different as well.

"The boys pay £5 to play, whereas their boys get paid to play.

"We were tired in the end, but I think everybody would have thought that we would."

Lads Club were backed by a vocal support and Moon said it was a great occasion for the club.

"I think we've had 400 or 500 here and it's a great day for the club," he said.

"I'm proud of the whole of the Lads Club because they've been absolutely superb right from the five-year-olds all the way to the seniors."

Lads Club will play in the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division next season and Moon thinks his team will be able to compete.

"We'll prepare well, but it's a case of whether we can keep everybody here and hopefully we can add two or three to it," he said.

"But will take the winning mentality across."
