LADS Club hope to provide an upset when they take on Hereford FC for the first ever time in the HFA County Challenge Cup today.

The Widemarsh Common side, who are the West Midlands (Regional League) Division One champions, have been in fantastic form this season winning 26 of 28 league games, scoring an average of four goals per match.

Manager Danny Moon says that many Hereford FC fans will be surprised at the challenge his side will bring to Edgar Street for the Bank Holiday final clash.

“People think that we will get annihilated but if we turn up and play how I know we can do people will be quite surprised,” said Moon.

“We know there are three leagues between us but we will make the most of it as we might not get to an occasion like this again.”

Moon’s side – who beat Bromyard Town 3-0 to clinch the title – will join Pegasus Juniors and Wellington in the West Midlands League Premier Division next season.

“We obviously deserved to win the league and it was nice to get over the line so we can now relax,” added Moon, whose side thrashed Tipton Town 5-1 last Wednesday.

“We got a wake up call against Kington as we just didn’t get out and play how we can.

"We have a lot of young lads who thought we had already won the game before we started as we won 7-0 at Kington earlier this season and their heads weren’t in the right place.

“We have done really well this season winning 30 from 34 including the county cup.

“The gap in class is not massive to the next league and I think we can compete up there if we keep the lads together and add a couple of new faces.

"We need to take this form into next season.”
