VETERAN player Rob Purdie says the Bulls have to go for another promotion next season.

The Bulls are almost certain to play in the Southern League Premier Division and could even be playing against local rivals Worcester City.

Worcester will be relegated from National League North today if they lose to champions AFC Fylde.

"We will go for promotion – that is what this club has to do," said Purdie.

"We have got to go with a squad and a mentality that we don't want to lose a game.

"If we get into the play-offs, it's not a disappointment as long as we have a chance of going up.

"We will aim for top spot and, if we fall short, we will dust ourselves down and go the season after.

"I am hoping for another similar season and after that, it may be a case of dipping in and out and may be doing a bit of coaching with Beads and Jenks.

"That won't be up for me, we learn in the next couple of weeks whether we're here or not.

"But I am looking to get another two our threes out of myself."

Purdie admitted Hereford's first inaugural season in the Midland Football League Premier Division last year was 'easy'.

"There were stronger teams this season, they're fitter, better organised and want to win," said Purdie.

"Last season, teams used to give up after 35 minutes, whereas this season they don't.

"People say last season was harder because of Alvechurch, but this season was a lot harder.

"And next season we will have to up our game again."

Purdie is getting married tomorrow, so will be unavailable for Hereford's 'Champions of Champions' game against Royston Town today.

The Bulls are also in action on Bank Holiday Monday when they entertain Hereford Lads Club in the HFA County Challenge Cup Final.
