KNIGHTON Town beat rivals Hay St Mary's 1-0 to win the Presteigne Otway Cup.

Mark Jones netted the winner in the 70th minute, which came on the back of Knighton pulling off a 2-1 at Llanrhaeadr in Spar Mid-Wales League Division One.

The Robins travelled with a bare eleven but battled to victory against a team which had previously lost just once at home all season.

Sam Williams and Adam Farmer scored the Knighton goals.

Hay's season ended on a disappointing note following a 1-0 defeat to bottom club Montgomery Town, while Radnor Valley lost 3-0 to Welshpool Town.

Meanwhile, Newbridge manager Matt Aubrey has been named the Division Two manager of the month for March, while Hay striker Brendan Hackett is the Division One player of the month.

Hay's reserve side are in pole position to win Watson Financial Mid-Wales League (South), despite drawing 1-1 at Llanidloes Reserves.

Brecon Northcote kept their hopes alive by thrashing Knighton Reserves 7-1, while Talgarth Town lost 1-0 to Presteigne Reserves.
