KINGTON Town joint-manager James Edmonds says he would be surprised if anyone got relegated from West Midlands (Regional) League Division One.

The Yellows are bottom of the division with just two games remaining.

But because Shenstone Pathfinders and Penncroft withdrew from the league earlier in the season, Edmonds thinks no one will go down.

"I would be surprised if anyone went down because two go up," said Edmonds.

"Two have already dropped out, but we can't rely on that.

"We've got to try and get as high up this league as we possibly can.

"We've got two games left and our aim is to get as many points as we possibly can and see where that takes us."

Kington claimed an excellent 2-1 away win at promoted Hereford Lads Club on Saturday.

Edmonds explained he changed the system following a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Bromyard Town the previous week.

"We wanted to keep the ball better and defend more as a unit," said Edmonds.

"I thought Rory [Huntbach], Matt [McDonald] and Luke [Edmonds] were superb upfront.

"We worked our socks off all over the pitch and I think we deserved it.

"I thought we were excellent and the two holding players, Nick [Layton] and Callum [Craddock], were very strong.

"Our goalkeeper is also only 19 and learning his trade and I thought he was brilliant at times."

Edmonds and fellow manager Stuart Jones were brought into the club to replace departing boss Shaun Harris.

And Edmonds admits he had his reservations in joining with the season already underway.

"I did have my doubts going in when half the season has gone because other players have signed for other teams," he said.

"But I am glad we have because you learn about the players and what you can learn from.

"But the bigger picture is certainly next season and hopefully we can push on."

Huntbach grabbed the winner against with 10 minutes remaining.

And he felt the effort his side put in meant they were deserving winners.

"They are top of the league looking to claim the championship spot, but I thought we played really well and got really tight," said Huntbach.

"We defended well and to get the two goals as well meant it was a great performance.

"You want to come here and do a job to get three points and stay up.

"Last weekend was not the best game and unfortunately we didn't get any points, so we had to put it right here even though they're at the top of the league."

New signing McDonald scored for the second successive week after joining from Sutton Coldfield Town on a dual registration deal.

Huntbach knows the striker having playing youth football with him.

"I think he's done really well," said Huntbach.

"He's a good player and it's good to him someone that I know from youth football here.

"I know his game so can link up with him well.

"He has shown the quality that he's got."

Lads Club knew they would be champions if they beat their struggling opponents.

Kington goalkeeper Jason Davies was called into action on a few occasions in the opening 20 minutes, including tipping a header onto the crossbar.

Nevertheless, Town also looked lively at the other end with the front three linking up well.

However it was Lads Club who broke the deadlock in the 38th minute.

Kiea Cowley was brought down in the penalty box and player-manager Danny Moon smashed home the spot-kick.

Lads Club had a great chance to make it 2-0 after the break, but Davies saved well from Tom Harding before Cowley's follow-up effort clipped the bar.

That proved costly as Kington levelled on the hour mark when McDonald flicked a header home from a corner.

Harding then headed wide for Lads Club before Huntbach tapped home McDonald's cross to win the game for Kington.
