A HEREFORD goalkeeper helped Coventry City put their off-field problems to one side by winning the Checkatrade Trophy at Wembley.
Lee Burge has been with the Sky Blues for 11 years after being spotted playing football for Bartestree when he was 13.
Coventry are bottom of League One and have been dogged by fans' protests this season due to their controversial ownership.
But on Sunday, Mark Robins' side were roared on by more than 43,000 supporters as they beat Oxford United 2-1.
And it was Burge's dramatic late save that ensured the tie would not go into extra-time.
"All of his family and friends went down and it was a wonderful occasion," said Burge's father Darren.
"Lee played for FC Phoenix before going to Pegasus.
"He was spotted while playing for Bartestree by a scout from Ross, who said he was too good to be playing where he was.
"So he spoke to Steve Ogrizovic at Coventry and he joined their academy.
"Last year, he was out for six months with an injured shoulder, but since October Lee has played and has been the number one."
Burge has also enjoyed a loan spell at Nuneaton Town and in 2013 played against Hereford United at Edgar Street in a Conference Premier fixture.
