WESTFIELDS manager Sean Edwards admits the next three games could have a big say in whether his side gain promotion from Midland Football League Premier Division.

All the matches are away from home, starting with Quorn this Saturday. A tough encounter against FA Vase quarter-finalists Sporting Khalsa is next up on Tuesday, followed by a trip to Heanor Town.

“They are key, especially after we dropped points at home on Saturday,” said Edwards.

“Quorn are a difficult side to play against and we had a good game against them at the start of the season. Khalsa are on a great FA Vase run and have the momentum of winning games.

“We have got to target six points this week and need everyone fit and firing on all cylinders.”

Edwards was disappointed with last Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Shawbury United.

“We’ve dropped five points against them this season and deservedly so,” said Edwards.

“I would like to keep clean sheets because we’re always going to score goals.

“We just have to stop conceding them.”

Midfielder Craig Jones agrees that the next few games are massive. “They will probably determine where we will lie come the end of the season,” he said.

Following those away games, Westfields have back-to-back home games against Coventry United and Coventry Sphinx.

The HFA County Challenge Cup semi-final against Lads Club will now take place on March 1.
