BARTESTREE manager Dave Cadwallader believes things are now starting to take shape for his side following their drop into the Herefordshire County League.

The villagers are currently second in the Premier Division after withdrawing from West Midlands (Regional) League Division One last season.

And while admitting his side are unlikely to win the division this season, Cadwallader is confident they can have a good end to the campaign.

“We started from scratch, but we’re playing well now,” said Cadwallader.

“We are a good footballing side and have a young squad.

“It’s coming together now and it looks good for next season.”

Last Saturday, Bartestree, who had Tom Burroughs sent off, hammered Ledbury Town 6-0.

Stuart New scored a hat-trick, while Adam Bendall, Liam Campbell and Mark Davies also netted.

“It was a good result, but we also missed two penalties,” added Cadwallader.

The match was moved to Marden Primary School due to Bartestree’s pitch being unplayable. Tenbury United are just a point behind Bartestree with five games in hand after thrashing Holme Lacy 6-1.

Ryan Morris and Chris Patton both scored twice for Tenbury.

Fownhope are now unbeaten in five matches after drawing 4-4 with Wellington Reserves, while Leominster Town had an encouraging 1-1 draw with Ewyas Harold.

Tenbury Town are now two points clear at the top of Division One after beating Weobley 3-1 while nearest challengers Hereford City could only draw 1-1 at home to Holme Lacy Reserves.

In the only other game played at the weekend, Ludlow Colts drew 0-0 with Wellington Colts.

Kingstone Rovers still remain unbeaten in Division Two, but are now only top on goal difference after drawing 3-3 at Toros.

Chris James’ side found themselves 3-0 down after Owen Jenkins, Liam Towey and Wayne Milner had netted for Toros, but the villagers hit back thanks to a brace from Joe Johnson and a goal from Martyn Powell.

Burghill Rangers are Kingstone’s nearest challengers for the title and they kept with the pace by beating much-improved Hereford City Reserves 4-3.

John Buchanan scored twice for Burghill, with David Olive and Ryan Daw also netting.

Elsewhere in the division, Bartestree Reserves overcame Dore Valley 5-3, Weston saw off Shobdon 4-1 and Withington beat Civil Service 2-1.
