HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle says he hopes supporters know he will always make decisions for the good of the team.

The Bulls boss was criticised by many fans following the club's last home game against Taunton for bringing off star striker John Mills while they were chasing the game.

Hereford lost 2-1, their first defeat in Southern League Division 1 South & West.

The Bulls bounced back last Saturday with a 2-0 win at Yate Town thanks to goals from Mills and Pablo Haysham and are 17 points clear at the top of the division.

Tomorrow, Hereford host third-placed Tiverton Town, with promotion firmly in their grasp.

"I'm one of John's biggest fans, but he has to contribute more to the team at times and his performance wasn't great," said Beadle.

"Sometimes you need more than just being a goal target and he knows that every player has a weakness.

"Against Taunton he didn't have his best game and he knows that.

"People need to see the bigger picture and, of course, I would have kept on my top scorer if he had a good game.

"Tristan Plummer sometimes can only play 65 to 70 minutes, so he needs to work on his fitness, if Jamie Edge keeps giving the ball away then I will take him off, but there's no issues between me and John.

"Hopefully the supporters have faith and trust in me that I make decisions that I feel are good for the team.

"Managers are always going to be questioned for the decisions they make but it's forgotten about now.

"I understand the supporters' frustration because he's an idol with the amount of goals he scores and we lost the game.

"But on Saturday, he scored and had a good game.

"We took him off and he got a standing ovation and I didn't get slated."

Hereford could effectively remove Tiverton out of the title picture with a win, but Beadle says nothing is won yet.

"Until it's mathematically impossible for anyone to catch us we won't relax and we would still want to finish the season strongly," said Beadle.

"Our focus is always on the next game.

"I felt we didn't play well at Tiverton earlier in the season, so we will want to give a good account of ourselves on Saturday.

"They have been up there all season, so it will be a tough game."

Meanwhile, Beadle admits it is difficult for some players to get a game at Hereford at the moment due to the form his team are in.

Jamie Cuss was not in the squad at Yate, but played and scored for Pegasus Juniors on Tuesday night against Wellington in a League Cup match.

"He just got back from injury and played a few games for Pegasus before getting back into the squad," added Beadle.

"But because he wasn't involved in the 16 on Saturday we felt he needed a game to keep up his fitness.

"It's important that everyone plays a part, but it is hard for everyone to get a game at present.

"But with Jamie, we are fortunate that he understands."
