TEENAGE goalkeeper Max Harris says playing regular senior football has helped him massively in his development.

Harris – who has been selected to play for England Schoolboys – is on a dual registration deal at Pegasus Juniors from Hereford FC.

The 17-year-old has benefited from an injury to fellow Pegasus keeper Nathan Phillips and has grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

"It's a big step from under-18s to men's football, especially as a keeper, but I'm grateful for Robbo [Anthony Robbins] for giving me the opportunity," said Harris.

"I think playing men's football has really helped in my development against players my age and that's maybe why I'm in the [England] squad.

"Having played nine or 10 games and getting a feel for it, I felt more confident playing men's football because it's more physical and much different to under-18s.

"Most players try to target a young goalkeeper in senior football, but you've just got to be loud and try and be commanding and set a good early example as soon as you can."

Harris added that his target is to get as many games under his belt as he can and try and would love a game for Hereford.

"I'm playing senior football at Pegasus, play regularly at Hartpury College, have had a couple of games for Hereford Youth and with the England Colleges, they've got fixtures coming thick and fast," said Harris.

"It's about fitting in as many games as I can and maybe then get a game for Hereford."

Harris may get his opportunity for the Bulls in the HFA County Challenge Cup semi-final against Pegasus next month.

"If I get in the squad it would be nice to play against the lads I've had experience of playing with," he said.

"Hopefully it will be a good day and a good fixture to play in."
