WESTFIELDS manager Sean Edwards says he was delighted to finally get striker Nathan Hodge on board.

The former Ludlow Town and Haughmond striker signed from Shawbury United last week after scoring four goals against Westfields earlier this month.

Edwards said he tried to bring in former Alvechurch marksman Jordan Nadat from Coleshill Town, but is delighted that he has got Hodge.

"We had put seven days in for Jordan Nadat, but he decided to stay where he was with them still being in the FA Vase, which is fair enough," said Edwards.

"But one player who I have really liked is Nathan Hodge and I've tried to sign him for many years.

"He has worked on the railways for years so it's been difficult to nail him down, but now he is available.

"I wanted to bring someone in who is a bit bit different to what we've already got.

"He has got a lot of pace and is a very mature striker.

"He has always scored a lot of goals and when he played against us for Shawbury, as well as his four goals, his movement was also very good.

"We want a striker to have pace so he can run and get on the end of crosses."

Hodge comes in for Nick Harrhy, who has joined Cinderford Town.

Westfields have also brought in midfielder Alex Hainault, who has played in Sweden.

Edwards' team saw their Midland Football League Premier Division match against Highgate United postponed on Saturday.

They are next in action tomorrow night against league leaders Alvechurch in a long-awaited Polymac Packaging League Cup Second Round match.
