WESTFIELDS manager Sean Edwards has targeted maximum points for his side this week as they aim to kick-start their Midland Football League Premier Division promotion push.

The city side host Coventry United at allpay.park tomorrow night before travelling to Shawbury United on Monday.

Westfields are third in the division, nine points behind leaders Alvechurch and eight adrift of second placed Lye having drawn 3-3 with Stourport Swifts on Tuesday. However their promotion rivals have played five and three games more respectively.

“We set a target of seven points from three games, so we’ve just got to get two wins now,” said Edwards.

“We’ve just got to keep picking up points in every game, rather than worry about the results of other teams.

“They will be happy that we dropped points, but on another note, it’s over the season, we haven’t reached halfway yet.

“Coventry play a very similar way to what Stourport do with a number nine and two wingers with three in the middle.

“It will be a similar sort of game and hopefully we will recover and go again.”

Edwards added he would love to add to his squad, but it’s difficult.

“It’s not an easy area to draw players in, but I still think if everyone is fit, we’re a strong side,” he said.
