WESTFIELDS manager Sean Edwards was delighted with the way his side destroyed higher-graded St Ives Town in the FA Cup.

The allpay.park side scored four unanswered goals to complete a fantastic first qualifying road win.

"The first half was a bit slow I thought – it was like a game of chess," admitted Edwards.

"We probably edged it slightly in terms of possession, but in the second half, once we got going I thought we would go on and win.

"You're playing an unknown team and you don't know whether they've set up just to frustrate you and realise we've got a bit of pace.

"May be that played into our hands a little bit in the second half because, once we got the first goal, the space opened up a little bit.

"They hadn't posed much of a threat in front of goal, but what they had Matt Gwynne dealt with fantastically."

Edwards' side have won all of their games so far this season.

"We're just enjoying it at the moment," added Edwards.

"We've had a good start, everyone is scoring goals and we're a team that have got confidence."

Edwards is also pleased that his side are keeping clean sheets.

"It's the same players given one or two changes today," he said.

"In preseason, we were conceding goals for fun, but we've worked really hard on defending as a unit and it's paying off with clean sheets."
