WESTFIELDS manager Sean Edwards believes there is no reason why his side cannot have a good run in the FA Cup this season.

His side face fellow Midland Football League (MFL) Premier Division side Tividale in the Preliminary Round this Saturday.

Westfields, who are away to Sporting Khalsa in the league tonight, have targeted championship glory this season and started in the best possible way by thumping St Andrews 4-0 in their opening game – Dan Polan scoring all four goals in a blistering first half display.

"We want a good run in all cup competitions, but it's also important that we have a squad that all get game time," said Edwards.

"As a club, financially it's a big incentive and we have some players this season that have never played in the FA Cup.

"We've had some really good FA Cup games and everyone obviously remembers the Kidsgrove game."

Craig Jones was the hero on that night last season, scoring four goals as Westfields came from 4-0 down to win 6-5 after extra time.

Jones also scored a stoppage time penalty in the Extra Preliminary Round this season to seal a 4-3 win over Stourport Swifts.

The winner of this Saturday's encounter will be home to St Ives Town in the First Qualifying Round on September 3.
