HEREFORD FC striker Jamie Cuss says he has been reassurred by manager Pete Beadle that he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone.

Cuss, who scored 31 goals for Westfields in all competitions last season, scored within a minute of coming off the bench in a 6-0 win over Bridgwater Town yesterday.

"I would like to think that the supporters have got faith in Peter [Beadle] and if he thinks I'm good enough to play, then I would expect the supporters to support what he is saying," said Cuss.

"He's brought me in, he knows what I can do and said I don't have to prove anything to anybody.

"It's a case of do what you do and that's what I'm trying to do at the moment."

Cuss added that he had no qualms of playing in front of the Meadow End in a Bulls shirt after starring for Westfields on three occasions at Edgar Street last season.

"It's still the same crowd and the same people you're playing in front of and in a game you don't really hear the crowd," he said.

"But it's nice to have them backing you rather than booing or slating you."

Hereford were 5-0 up at the time Cuss came on, but he said he still had to do the right things.

"You've still got to do your job, you've still got to do your runs and do the right things," he said.

"The back four were brilliant and we got the three points and that's what we're happy with."

Club captain Joel Edwards played with Cuss at Westfields, but the Bulls new boy said everyone at the club has made him feel welcome.

"All of the players have made me feel welcome and taken me under their wing," he said.

"I don't worry about coming in and just speaking to Joel, it's a team game and they've made me feel welcome."
