TRISTAN Plummer said he knew he had to sign for Hereford FC as soon as he heard the Bulls were interested in him.

The former Bristol City player had two spells at Hereford United in 2009 and 2012 and joins at a time when Hereford were crying out for a winger.

Plummer played for Weston-super-Mare in the National League South last season and made his debut for the Bulls in a 3-2 win over Mangotsfield United on Tuesday night.

"Once I heard they were interested in me while I was at Weston, I just thought' yeah with the fans and being here before twice, I would come back and play in front of these great fans'," said Plummer.

"I talked to Weston and said I wanted to leave and, to be fair they were good and said it's a great club and let me go, which was good.

"I was good to come after a full pre-season and play 75, 80 minutes.

"I can only get better and I felt a bit rusty, but I thought I'd done alright and, at the end of the day, we won and that's the most important thing and we're not even playing to our best.

"Even though I've just met these lads, I feel there's so much to come from them, but we still took the three points."

Plummer added that Hereford started to talking to him towards the end of pre-season.

"I talked to some of the players just to get a feel of what it is like here and they said the fans were unbelievable and the manager is good," he said.

"I had a few words with the gaffer and he's got a positive mindset and that's I want – I just want to be winning games and enjoying my football."

Hereford manager Pete Beadle felt Plummer played well on his debut.

"I thought he did great for half an hour," said Beadle.

"He's had a steady pre-season, he hasn't had much game time over the last couple of weeks, so it was good to throw him in at the deep end and I thought he looked lively. With Tristan, the more games he plays, the better he is going to get, so hopefully we can keep him fit and get him sharp and build him up slowly.

"He's a quality addition to the group."
