HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle says he will be extremely shocked and disappointed if any player wants to leave Edgar Street.

The Bulls boss will be having a break away with his family this weekend before speaking to his players next week to see what their future holds.

Beadle also has to decide who to bring in as his new assistant following the departure of Matt Bishop, who has joined Aberystwyth Town.

He has confirmed he has already contacted two people who he knows to see if they will be interested, while another person has also texted him.

On the playing front, rumours have circulated that star striker John Mills could be heading back to Didcot Town, but Beadle said he would be disappointed if that was the case.

"For me, if any player wants to leave Hereford, I would want to know their reasons why because I want players who want to fight for their place.

"I think John flourished and improved as a player this season and became a bit of a Meadow End legend with the goals he scored.

"Sometimes, it is easy to take the easy option, but John tweeted the other day that he loved playing at Hereford, so if that means he is going back to Didcot, then I would be surprised."

"But until I speak to them individually, then I don't know what their plans are.

"However, I would be extremely shocked and disappointed if a few players wanted to walk away."

Supporters' player of the year Aaron Birch has been linked with a move to Bristol City.

But the popular midfielder says he hasn't been offered anything and is happy to stay at Hereford.

"I'm not going to hide the fact that I still want to play full-time football and strive to be better and play in the Premier League or the Championship, but the club and supporters have been amazing to me.

"The lads are second to none and I love every one of them.

"For the time being, there's been nothing that has been offered to me, I'm happy here and I'm ready for next season.

"The speculation is flattering, but you can't take that for granted, because until something is offered to you, it cannot be true."

Beadle hopes to tie some players down by the middle of next week.

"I need to have a budget and start working out which players we want to keep," said Beadle.

"I've already enquired about one or two players I would like to bring in, but I need to recharge the batteries first before coming back.

"But hopefully, by the middle of next week, will have renegotiated terms for next year."

One person who has been touted as possibly being Bishop's replacement is Cinderford Town manager John Brough.

The former Hereford United defender led Cinderford to the Southern Football League Division One South & West title last season and was interviewed for the Hereford FC job last summer.

Brough said he hadn't heard that Bishop had left the club when contacted by the Hereford Times this week.

"There are a few issues that need to be ironed out at Cinderford in the next few weeks because the chairman has stepped down from the club, so things have been put on hold," said Brough.

"It's no secret that I was interested in the [Hereford] job and I was interviewed.

"I made the final two alongside Peter, but they they went for Peter.

"What Peter has achieved there after starting from scratch has been fantastic.

"They had a big following at Wembley and the result was a disappointment, but I think Hereford will be up there next season."

Beadle, meanwhile, says he would have picked the same team that started the FA Vase Final against Morpeth Town, even though Hereford lost 4-1.

Many people were surprised that neither Mustapha Bundu or Mills started, but Beadle says it would have been a completely different game if his team had taken their first half chances.

"Everyone has their opinion, like if Bundu or Mills should have started and we went through different options – Mills and Haysham, Haysham and Symons, Bundu and Grant, Bundu and Staley and whether to have three in midfield," explained Beadle.

"But the team that played proved to be the strongest at the end of the season.

"May be we could have done things differently, but if we went 3-0 up, it would have been a completely different game."
