A JUNIOR football team featuring youngsters from Hereford have clinched some silverware.

West Bromwich Albion Player Development Centre's Hereford and Monmouth Under 12s team, managed by Westfields coach Andy Bevan, saw off the challenge of Purbeck in Dorset to win the Junior Premier League Shield.

Albion took the lead through Harvey Vaughan but the lead lasted just two minutes with Joe Smith racing onto a through ball to score.

The home side regained the lead when Lewis Lloyd found Corey Ellis with a lovely through ball and Ellis took it first time, hitting it into the far corner.

But there was still time in the half for Purbeck score twice, equalising from the penalty spot before nudging ahead right on half time.

After the break a deep cross from Ellis wasn't held by the goalkeeper with Chesney Somers pouncing.

And with five minutes left, Issac Phelps intercepted a through ball and played it forward for Jakey Bevan to head on to Finley Jones who lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper for Harvey Vaughan to side foot home.

Meanwhile, the Herefordshire Football League Premier Division ended with two goalless draws.

Hinton were playing catch-up and were held by Tenbury United last Wednesday before drawing by the same scoreline away at Ledbury Town the following evening.

The draws mean the city side finish in sixth place.

Hinton's Reserve side was in action on Saturday when they met Wellington Colts in the final of the HFL HJ Handley Cup.

Colts ran out 3-1 winners with Harley Priday scoring Hinton's only goal.

On Tuesday night, Hinton Reserves drew 3-3 with Ewyas Harold Reserves.

Division Two was also completed on Saturday when Holme Lacy Reserves beat Kington Town Reserves to finish fourth.

Joel Price and substitute Sean Thomas were on target.
