FOR many Hereford fans, the thought of going to Wembley was just a distant dream.

But one Bulls supporter always harboured hopes he would one day see his beloved club play at the iconic venue.

Chris Payne, along with his father Steve, has a stone plaque at Wembley, which reads "One day Hereford United will play here."

The old club may have gone, but the new one has certainly united everyone and there will be around 20,000 fans willing them on to victory this Sunday.

"No one associated with the club would ever have dreamt that they would play at Wembley, especially in their first season – it's just amazing," said Chris, who is from Munderfield, near Bromyard.

"We got the plaque done in about 2009/10, but didn't think much about it at the time.

"Even when Hereford United got to the play-off final, it was at Leicester.

"It's just absolutely phenomenal."
