A COUNTY headteacher believes Hereford FC's run to the FA Vase Final has helped to create a new generation of fans.

Andrew Teale will be taking more than 80 children to Wembley this Sunday for what will no doubt be an unforgettable occasion.

"I think the whole school is really excited, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Teale.

"We've got 150 people going, with over half of those being children.

"We're hoping it will be a real community event that the whole family will enjoy and remember.

"We started off with a thought that we would take one bus; we've now ended up with three bus loads going.

"The great thing is, it's not just the football fans.

"Many of the children going have never been to a football match before, so it's really bringing in the whole new group of fans for football and Hereford."

St Paul's were one of many schools in Herefordshire that visited Edgar Street as part of a Schools Day organised by the club.

They were able to have a tour around the ground and speak to Bulls manager Pete Beadle and captain Joel Edwards.

"It has generated a huge amount of enthusiasm," added Teale.

"Hereford put on an event for us where all the children that are going went along to.

"They met the manager and captain and were involved in activities throughout the whole day.

"It has really helped engage a new fan base for the club and it promises well for the future."
