A LIVID Shaun Harris says he doesn't want players at the club who don't share his ambition.

The Yellows put in a shocking performance in the first half against Wednesfield last Thursday and found themselves 4-0 down after 36 minutes.

To their credit, Kington played much better after the break and even had enough chances to threaten an amazing comeback. They only got on the scoresheet once though thanks to a Tom Parry tap-in with 12 minutes to go.

"We had one or two lads that clearly didn't want to be here and there's one player who will never for this football club again.

"It's just a poor attitude and it's something we don't want at this football club.

"We're ambitious, we want to be in West Midlands Prem at the end of next season and if people aren't here for that same reason, then they won't play for this football club again.

"It's a real shame because the lad is talented, he's a good player, but unfortunately he doesn't share that same mentality week in, week out, which is want we want at this club."

Harris believes Kington have "massively underachieved" this season.

"I think we could have at least made the top four and should have challenged for promotion," admitted Harris.

"We had issues in pre-season and after Christmas and it can't be tolerated.

"We must improve, we must get people into this club that can push us on.

“I think, with the size of the club, we can reach Westfields' league [Midland Football League] in the next three years."

Kington have a League Cup semi-final against St Martins this Saturday, with the final being played at Wolverhampton Casuals just three days later.

Harris believes it will be a close match, especially if his side put in the same sort of performance as they did in the second half against Wednesfield.

But he admits, consistency has been a problem for the Mill Street side.

"We can be so strong for so many months, then have a bad month and it falls apart," said Harris.

"We're working on consistency and I think we will get it together for this week and are hoping to be in the final."

Mark Morgan already went close for Wednesfield before he capitalised on a defensive mistake to put his side ahead in the 14th minute.

It should have been 2-0 six minutes later, but Morgan somehow missed the target from just a couple of yards out.

But Wednesfield did open up a two-goal advantage when Josh Jones' low effort from about 25 yards beat Kington goalkeeper Bryan Kirkham.

And it was 3-0 in the 31st minute when Morgan's lobbed Kirkham.

Kington did not know what hit them and Wednesfield scored again just five minutes thanks to a close-range finish by Morgan. Harris changed things around at half-time and Kington were a completely different side in the second half.

A great ball by Miles Langford found Brian Dyer, but his effort was blocked, before Callum Davies saw his shot parried by Wednesfield goalkeeper Jonathan Brown.

A bullet header by Parry from Liam Jones' corner was straight at Brown just past the hour mark and, three minutes later, Parry clipped the crossbar.

Substitute Tom Rowlands then shot straight at Brown and Davies saw his header denied.

Kington finally scored in the 78th minute when Parry tapped home Davies' low cross, but it was too late for the Yellows to mount a comeback.
