ALVECHURCH assistant manager Richard Colwell said his side "won't roll over and die" in their pursuit of Hereford in the Midland Football League Premier Division.

The Worcestershire side gained an excellent draw at Edgar Street yesterday, ending Hereford's amazing winning run of 27 games in all competitions.

"We said the league was far from over either way; we said to the lads. 'win, lose or draw here, the league is far from over'", said Colwell.

"There is a lot of football still to play – we know we're still playing catch-up, but we've got a good enough squad to do that and hopefully we can.

"We've got a big game now on Tuesday [home to Quorn] and arguably that is a bigger game than the one we've just played.

"We'll just take each game as it comes, we'll keep working and training hard and the one thing we won't do is that we're not going to die and roll over.

"We know we're underdogs with their facilities, crowd, finances and the stature of the club, but we won't roll over and die – we'll keep going."

Colwell added he would have taken a draw at the start of the game.

"A draw suits us, but we've got a lot of games to play though," he said.

"It will be different at our place though with the return game.

"Overall, we're delighted and we think we just about deserved a draw with our second half performance and the endeavour we showed."

Colwell admitted it probably would have been game over if Hereford went into the half-time break 2-0 up.

"It was hard in the first half and we didn't play very well – it took us a little while to get going and it's the first time a lot of the lads had played in front of a crowd like that," said Colwell.

"At half-time, we told the lads to go out and play a bit and trust yourselves and each other and I thought we did that.

"The equalising goal is a very good goal; from the edge of our box, then one-two-three-four passes and we're in on goal and a really good finish."
