JAMIE Vardy may be getting all the headlines in the Premier League, but one county striker is equally in a rich vein of form.

Sam Pearson has been red-hot for Pegasus Juniors this week, scoring seven goals in just three days.

He netted a hat-trick against Wolverhampton Sporting Community last Saturday to help his side win 4-2, before scoring all four goals in a 4-3 League Cup tie that knocked out Black Country Rangers on Tuesday night.

His next target is county rivals Wellington for an eagerly-anticipated West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division derby this weekend.

"I'm trying to score as many goals as I can and am hoping to progress," said Pearson.

"I wouldn't say I am necessarily in great form though, the team helps me, which every striker needs.

"Josh Hunt at Wellington is scoring a lot for them, so it should be a good game on Saturday."

Peggy go into the game ninth in the division, one place above Wellington.

But Welly won the corresponding fixture at Old School Lane 4-1 earlier this season.

"Wellington have always been a good side, they work hard and have got some great players, like Hunt, who is a goal threat," added Pearson.

"It is a local derby, which is great because it adds a bit of excitement and it should be a good battle."

Pegasus manager James Edmonds

"They deserved the win and it will be another hard game because they're playing well at the moment," said Edmonds.

"Sam is a very good player who is in great form at the moment, so hopefully that will continue."

Wolverhampton Sporting Community went ahead in the 30th minute thanks to a Dan Westwood penalty before Pearson equalised eight minutes later.

Pearson then scored again after 53 minutes before he completed his hat-trick.

Luke Griffiths made it 4-1 to Pegasus before John Letford scored a consolation goal for Wolverhampton.

Against Black Country Rangers, Pearson netted an 11 minute hat-trick to put Pegasus in control.

Black Country pulled two goals back before Pearson scored again.

Lucquin Brich scored again for the away side, but Peggy held on.

Wellington go into the game on the back of a 3-2 defeat against Willenhall Town after throwing away a two-goal lead.

Adam Newbury and Ben Thomas scored to put Derek Williams' side seemingly in control at the break, but three goals in 12 minutes in the second half won the game for Willenhall.

"I never know how we are going to turn up, because we've got a good enough team," admitted Williams.

"But in our league, the bottom team can beat the top team – there's not many outstanding teams, apart from may be Shawbury and Bridgnorth.

"But it's a local derby on Saturday and we will be ready for it.

"We've got a couple of players missing, but we are looking forward to it."
