FOURTEEN years after first stepping through the doors of Edgar Street it’s a case of, on one hand, nothing has changed but on the other - it is all new.

It’s an exciting start for Hereford FC but it feels as though it should still be Hereford United playing in the Conference at least.

Step five brings new clubs and a different way of playing football, something we had to get used to as a team and I had to get used to personally. My injury allowed me to watch games and learn, coupled with a visit to the doctors which showed some irregularities in my blood that was affecting my energy levels. I feel a lot better since my return. Now, as a team, we have it about right and we are doing well but the first six games were an eye opener; and we had to learn fast that players don’t play like they do in higher divisions.

Since the turn-around we have been unstoppable. Players have come and gone. What we have now is good enough to challenge on both league and cup fronts. Each player is striving to improve and Beads [Pete Beadle] and Bish [Matt Bishop] are making sure we do. Everyone has their own personal targets they like to reach and that pushes us further.

Mine was 20 assists and 10 goals this season; in 14 appearances I have 12 assists and six goals which is on target. I don’t think I’ll catch Millsy [John Mills] for goals though. I find myself forgetting that I am playing for a newly formed club at times. and That is a credit to the owners for securing Edgar Street and to the fans for turning out in the amazing numbers they do.

It is key that this is an extension to the history of HUFC and with the Meadow End packed and full of noise, it will be.

Our support is huge to our success and helps attract the players we have like Mills and Haysham.

They are quality players and good lads too.

The team spirit is up there with the best I’ve been involved with, although Greeny [Ryan Green] and I love a moan sometimes. Credit has to go to Beads for putting us all together.

Hopefully if we keep putting on the displays we have been, the fans will keep coming back and we will improve even further so come May we will achieve what we set out to do in July.
