JAMIE Allen has been relived of his duties as first-team manager of Presteigne St Andrews.

The border club are currently fifth from bottom in Division Two of the Spar Mid-Wales League and suffered a heavy 5-1 home defeat against Penybont last Friday night.

“We all acknowledge Jamie has been working under tough conditions and he has done well to bring on some of the club's younger players,” said Presteigne chairman Andy Crowe.

“But he would agree results have been disappointing and a couple of recent performances in home matches were way below what we could reasonably expect.

“We wish Jamie well for the future and he will always be welcome at Llanandras Park."

Reserve team manager Mark Weiland will now manage the first team, starting with this Saturday's game against Dyffryn Banw.

“Mark has managed the reserves for four years and both he and senior committee members feel now is the time for him to take on this new challenge,” added Crowe.

“He is well aware of the size of the task facing him but feels that, given time, he can add to the squad in key areas.

“We will be speaking to a number of people with a view to the management structure for the reserves and will announce that when the details have been finalised.”
