WESTFIELDS have this morning signed Ben Miller from Hereford FC.

Chief executive Andy Morris said the paperwork was completed at 10.30am and it was with the Football Association.

Ledbury-based Miller only made two league starts for Hereford and, along with Sol Wheatley, was released by the Bulls this week.

Miller played on the left side of midfield for Hereford, but Westfields manager Sean Edwards says he sees him as a striker.

"He is a very good young player and he played well against us last week," said Edwards.

"I probably see him more as a striker than a left-sided player.

"When I saw him for Hereford Under-18s a few years ago, he played as a centre-forward and then went to West Brom, where Pete Beadle saw him more as a left-sided player.

"He has got a good eye for goal and a sweet left foot.

"He trained with us last night and is available to play tomorrow."

Edwards added that striker Marcus Palmer also trained last night following a lengthy injury lay-off and could be in contention for tomorrow's game against Brocton.

Goalkeeper Matt Gwynne has also moved back to Hereford from Eastbourne, but Aidan Thomas and Matt Reeve are still injured.

Edwards added that the club put in seven-day notices for two players who play their trade int he West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division, but they wanted to stay where they were.

Westfields have only won twice this season in the Midland Football League Premier Division and Edwards said it is crucial his team pick up wins against sides who are in and around them in the table.

"We seem to play really well versus the better teams, but what we have got to do is scrap for points against teams who are around us," said Edwards.
