JAMIE Willets says he will not celebrate against Stourport Swifts next week should he net another goal for Hereford FC.

The centre-back, who joined the Bulls from Swifts in September, has been key to the club's excellent clean sheet record.

Last Saturday's 2-0 win at Rocester in the first round of the FA Vase was Hereford's ninth clean sheet in the last 10 games.

"I was there [at Stourport] for six years and I desperately want to win for Hereford, but at the same time it will be a bit weird," said Willets.

"But I have to treat it as any other game and do a professional job.

"Hopefully we will keep a clean sheet, but I won't be celebrating if I score."

Willets says Hereford's clean sheet record is 'astronomical'.

"It was eight on the bounce before the Westfields game, so if you don't count the League Cup, then it's nine, which is absolutely unbelievable," said Willets.

"But it isn't just about the defenders, it's about the goalkeeper, midfielders and strikers.

"Pablo [Haysham] put in such a shift on Saturday to help the defence, which is something we work hard on in training.

"But nine clean sheets out of 10 is astronomical."

Willets added he cannot believe how well things have gone since joining the club.

"I think when I joined, it was played six, lost three, so I couldn't have dreamt what we would win 15 in a row," he said.

"But even during the Stourport game [at the start of the season] it was clearly evident that Hereford had some talented players on their books."

Willets felt Hereford deserved to beat Rocester and preserve their unbeaten record.

"I thought we were a bit fortunate to go into half-time at 0-0 because they had one or two chances," admitted Willets.

"We didn't adapt to the pitch, but it is something we will have to get used to because they will only get worse and in two or three months' time there will be some with no grass on.

"But in the second half, we dug in and fought hard and got the win which we deserved."

Because Joel Edwards and Ryan Green were unavailable, Rob Purdie slotted in at left-back, with Jimmy Oates partnering Willets at the heart of the defence.

"Joel and Ryan have been massive players for us, so when I heard they weren't playing, I was a little bit worried, but Purdie came in at left-back and is was absolutely no problem," said Willets.

"People came in and can be very proud of themselves and it made my job a bit easier.

"Now, Joel and Ryan will have to fight to get their place back."
