TWO goals in the last 11 minutes salvaged Kington Town a spirited share of the spoils with Wem Town at Mill Street last Saturday.

Having suffered their first league loss in 26 games at Lads Club, last season’s Division Two champions looked set for back-to-back defeats when they trailed 2-0 just past the hour mark.

Dan Price exposed some defensive uncertainty to fire Wem ahead on 16 minutes and though both Tom Parry and Miles Langford hit the bar for Kington, they conceded again on 64 minutes when Jordan Kennedy pounced in a goalmouth scramble.

The dangerous Price then wasted the chance to make it 3-0 and the miss proved costly when Kington, fortified by some some astute substitutions, stormed back.

Sub Joe Mayglothing headed them back into it on 79 minutes and they were level in bizarre fashion three minutes later when left-back Jordan Cooper’s intended cross floated over an embarrassed Wem goalkeeper.

Kington also had a decent penalty shout turned down and were well on top at the final whistle.

Boss Shaun Harris admitted: “Even though we were 2-0 down we felt gutted not to have won the game.”

Dean Drezewski was on target in a dominant first half as Lads Club continued their revival with a 1-0 home win over FC Stafford - their third win on the bounce after two defeats - while Bartestree picked up their first point of the campaign in a 1-1 draw with Penncroft, Adam Bendall accounting for their goal from the penalty spot.
