BELMONT Wanderers held a fun day to raise funds for the club and awareness for grassroots football in the county.

Girls from the Under-10 to 14s took part in matches, with the Under-11 boys putting on a training session.

Teams from Leominster and Lads Club also participated in the day which raised £277.

"For us it was a massive milestone in our development as a community based club," said Belmont club secretary Dan Pitt.

"We are looking to develop youth based football for both girls and boys within our county.

"Being a reasonably young club, to hold a small event like this gives us the potential to now scale it up next time and generate more interest.

"We are already looking at how we can put on a tournament next year.

"I should say a massive thanks to the people from the community and club that helped out.”

As well as a bouncy castle and a barbecue, there was also a raffle held, with Caitlin Evans winning a signed Hereford FC shirt.

"The club would like to also thank Hereford FC for donating the signed shirt for our raffle, its great to see support coming from our local football club," added Belmont spokemsna Chris Tipping.

"A football donation like this means a lot to the members of the club and can help build inspiration and belief in the local football community."
