BROMYARD Town assistant manager Nick Smith believes his team could clinch back-to-back promotions after romping to the West Midlands (Regional) League Division 1 title.

Town won 20 of their 27 games to win the league by seven points and were presented with the trophy following their 0-0 draw against Shenstone Pathfinders last Saturday.

"We had to wait a couple of weeks to get the cup, but it was enjoyable when it came," said Smith.

"I'm an Aston Villa fan and Steve Staunton (ex-Villa and Republic of Ireland player) was watching because his son is a left-back for Shenstone.

"We are looking forward to the Premier League and will make a lot of new signings.

"We are planning on pushing on and win it.

"We have been in talks with players who have played in a higher league than what we will be in and should have a decent squad."

Last Saturday's game was goalkeeper Dean Smith's last for the club, but his is staying on as a staff member.

Debbie Banks is also joining the club as physio.

Lads Club, meanwhile, finished their league campaign with a 5-2 defeat at Team Dudley despite leading twice.

The Hereford side went ahead after 12 minutes through Tom Harding before Team Dudley equalised thanks to Ryan Spittle.

Lads Club went back in front on 30 minutes when player-manager Danny Moon made good contact from a corner, but again Team Dudley came back and levelled through James Hill. The home side went ahead for the first time on 63 minutes after Lee Clarke broke free of the defence to beat Steve Bell in the Lads Club goal.

Lads Club then committed players forward in search of an equaliser, but paid the price as, first Spittle, then Hill, scored to secure the win for Team Dudley.
