HAY St Mary's won the KC Electrical Presteigne Otway Cup final after beating Rhosgoch Rangers 1-0 to complete a memorable season.

Jack Biggs grabbed the only goal of the game in the first half to win the tie at Llanandras Park.

It came in the 17th minute when Rhosgoch defender Chris Price attempted to shepherd the ball out of the play.

But he was caught in possession, allowing Biggs to run at goal and fire a low shot past Adam Jones at his near post.

The Crows then saw an effort from player-manager Liam Jones fly just wide of the target six minutes later.

Biggs nearly doubled his tally shortly after the interval, but pulled his effort just wide of the goal after finding space on the edge of the penalty area.

A 55th minute corner from Liam Jones came back of the crossbar before he saw a low free-kick from 25 years turned behind by Hay goalkeeper Tom Lewis.

A Steve Morgan cross was then headed over by Geraint Lloyd as the cup holders enjoyed a good spell of possession.

Hay tried to extend their lead and with 14 minutes remaining, Rob Snedden broke down the right and delivered a cross that Biggd headed goalwards.

But his effort was blocked by two Rhosgoch defenders at the far post.

The Saints then saw a header cleared off a post with minutes to go before Liam Jones saw's goal-bound shot was cleared for a corner.

Neil Davies later struck the outside of the goal but Hay managed to hold on and complete a memorable season after clinching promotion to Division 2 of the Spar Mid-Wales League. Hay defender Steve Goodwin was chosen as the man of the match.
