WELLINGTON Reserves captain Dean Price said his team's hard work was key to them winning the HFL Senior Cup.

"We were 1-0 down at half-time, but had a good half-time talk and gave it our all," said Price.

"Work rate got us the result.

"It was a bit frustrating because I think we had most of the possession so it was a bit of a kick in the teeth.

"But we came out and played better football.

"The manager gave us a bit of a grilling, which was what we needed.

"We faced our problems and conquered them.

"We played some good football in parts, which was what got us the final goal."

Price was on hand to score the winner two minutes from time.

At the time, it was unclear whether the ball actually went in after Price got on the end of Nick Britton's right-wing cross.

The right-back wheeled away in celebration and the goal was given.

"It went from the right-wing and played it back into our midfielders and I got the final touch and it went in," said Price.

"We put pressure on them, which got us the winner.

I was pretty much on the line and I hit it on the volley to make it go in.

"It definitely went in."

Price believes the team will be challenging for the Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Premier Division title after missing out by two points.

"If the lads keep up their fitness, I'm pretty sure it will be a good season, but it will be tight again," he said.
