WELLINGTON go in search of some prized West Midlands (Regional)?League silverware at Wolverhampton Casuals on Wednesday night.

The villagers tackle Cradley Town in the final of the Premier Division Cup and boss Derek Williams says: “We are going there to win it. Cradley have signed a lot of players from Coventry Sphinx who they have apparently been playing in the cup games but not the league, but we have beaten both the champions and runners-up, Sporting Khalsa and AFC?Bridgnorth, to reach the final so we know we have it in us.”

Last Saturday Wellington held Bridgnorth to a 2-2 draw in a terrific final home league fixture.

Welly were the better team in the first half but struggled to make it tell in front of goal. Matt Aubrey, Paul Jones and Andy Price all went close before the visitors broke away to score against the run of play.

Wellington were only behind for ten minutes with Price equalising with a sensational 30-yard volley, and they went ahead when Josh Hunt beat three players in a wonder run from his own half to set up Aubrey to net with a left-footed drive.

With Gornal Athletic trailing, Bridgnorth knew they only needed a point to finish runners-up and they threw everything at Wellington in the second period, levelling ten minutes in.

The home side then had to defend stoutly, with keeper Chris Mancui making some great saves to deny Bridgnorth a winner.
