EWYAS Harold are set to stay in the Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League after retaining the Premier Division title.

The villagers dramatically beat Lads Club Reserves 2-1, while nearest challengers Wellington Reserves could only draw 2-2 against Hinton.

Shaune Smith was Harold’s hero as his goal won them the game with minutes to spare.

The game was switched to Widemarsh Common due to building work taking place at Ewyas Harold’s ground.

And Lads Club were always a match for their opponents, equalising with 20 minutes to go through Josh Pugh after Harold opened the scoring through Ryan Davies.

“We just kept the faith and just worried about own game,” said Ewyas Harold assistant manager Malcolm Watkins.

“Our immediate intention is to stay in the Herefordshire League set-up because we feel that is right for us and we have no aim of going a step up.

“But if we continue our success and feed players through, who knows where that will take us.”

The only other Premier Division game saw Tenbury United finish their season strongly with a 3-0 home win against Fownhope thanks to a Mike Foster hat-trick.

Kington’s goal was scored by Ryan Newton.
