A ROLLERCOASTER week for Kington Town saw them back in pole position in the West Midlands (Regional) League Division Two table - but still feeling disappointed.

The Yellows were knocked off the top twice in a matter of days, first on a technicality when Sikh Hunters resigned from the league, only to do a U-turn and decide to carry on, and then when Darlaston Town beat Tipton Youth 5-0 in midweek.

Saturday’s final home fixture against Warstone Wanderers brought more mixed feelings. Though a point from a 2-2 draw restored Kington to the summit, game number 16 in their impressive unbeaten run almost felt like a defeat.

Kington could have been sitting pretty at the break but only had a 33rd minute header from Dale Hodge to show for their efforts. A spot-kick from penalty king Joe Mayglothing early in the second half appeared to have given them a matchwinning cushion but Warstone, who had won their previous 11 games, refused to buckle and were handed a late lifeline when Ricky Dyer conceded an unlucky penalty.

The classy Connor Forrester converted it and in the dying seconds the same player stunned another large Mill Street crowd by escaping to slot home a dramatic equaliser for his 17th goal in 13 appearances.
