WELLINGTON manager Derek Williams felt his team were unlucky to lose against Westfields in the HFA County Challenge Cup final.

"I thought we had more chances, more corners, more free-kicks, it was just the rub of the green that didn't fall for us," said Williams.

"I'm so proud of the lads, I thought we were the better team for long stages of the game.

"Unfortunately, sending-off came at a crucial time.

"We had just scored and were right on top and I thought we were going to win the game.

"But unfortunately going down to 10 men cost us.

"We played on Saturday, they didn't, and it was hard going for our lads.

"But they stuck at it and kept going."

Williams added that he wasn't surprised that Wellington matched their higher-graded opponents.

"We always feel we can raise our game against these sides and there was no shock to me in how we played," said Williams.

"We have played well all season, just sometimes you switch off.

"But we played really well on Saturday and took it into Monday."

A hat-trick by Josh Hunt and two goals from Ben Thomas, including a penalty, sealed a 5-0 win for Wellington against Bilston Town Community in the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division on Saturday.

Wellington are set to finish in mid-table in the division and have a semi-final League Cup game against league leaders Sporting Khalsa to look forward to.

The final will be played at Villa Park, home to Aston Villa.

"We need our main players available for these games," said Williams.

"We've always got a chance at Wellington and they have won the league already, so may be a bit relaxed.

"We just hope we catch them on an off day.

"It will be the biggest day of our history if we get to the final, but unfortunately we've got to beat the best team in the league."
