LEDBURY Town Reserves had a weekend to remember after winning the Ross Cup for the first time in 45 years – two days after holding Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Division 1 leaders Bromyard to a draw.

Town, who have had to battle off-field affairs this season, beat Ewyas Harold Reserves 4-2 on Easter Monday at Weston under Penyard.

Harold went in front after scoring a penalty after just three minutes, but Ledbury soon got back into the tie when Jamie Welch smashed the ball home 30 minutes later.

Ledbury were then awarded a penalty five minutes before half-time when Marc Wildig was brought down in the box.

Dan Herbert duly converted it before he smashed home another penalty before half-time.

Ewyas Harold made a game of it by reducing the deficit in the 56th minute, but Ledbury sealed the win nine minutes from time after Herbert fire home after linking up with Welch.

On Saturday, Welch scored twice to help his team to a 3-3 draw at Bromyard.

Thomas Watkins was also on target for Phil Preedy and Roly Welch's side that leaves them three points behind Bromyard with two games in hand.

Meanwhile, darts player Terry 'the Bull' Jenkins helped raise £280 for Ledbury Town's fighting fund by holding an exhibition night at the Royal Hall.

The only person to beat Jenkins on the night was local darts player Matthew Badham.
