PEGASUS Juniors earned a credible win against Dudley Town in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

Chris Hyde’s side, who secured a great draw at runaway league leaders Sporting Khalsa in their previous game, were never truly troubled during the game at Old School Lane.

The visitors scored early in the first half, but the home side, displaying an increasing resilience, instantly came back into the game, grabbing three goals before the interval.

Town did reduce the deficit before the end of the game, but never looked likely to gain parity.

Dudley opened the scoring in the 7th minute when Pegasus failed to deal with an innocuous cross by Christian Ekemlor, allowing Rion Francis-Mills to score from close range.

Pegasus soon levelled when Dudley defender Andy Arnold, under pressure from Danny Hill, played the ball back to Francis-Mills.

Chris Mortlock was alert to the situation, however, and rounded the goalkeeper to stroke the ball into an empty net.

Five minutes later and Pegasus were ahead.

Tom Dawson played the ball to Mortlock, who, from 25 yards out, struck an unstoppable shot past James Scarratt.

Dudley were becoming less effective as the first half wore on, with Nathan Phillips denying their only real opportunity with a fine save.

That miss proved costly as Pegasus increased their lead on the stroke of half-time after Ben Price struck the ball through Scarratt's legs.

Pegasus were then in control after the break and, despite Dudley pulling a goal back 11 minutes from time, held on for the win.

The Hereford side were due to travel to play Willenhall Town on Tuesday night, but the game was postponed due to poor weather.

Meanwhile, Pegasus Juniors under-14s have reached their second cup final in as many years after beating AFC Wulfrunians 2-0 in the Midland Junior Premier League Cup.

Pegasus were first into their stride in the game, with the front three of Adam Hockley, Jake Warren and Luke Marston causing problems to the home defence.

Hockley opened the scoring by heading home Jake Corrick’s corner, before Marston secured the win 10 minutes from time.

The final will be played at Brackley Town’s ground, in Oxfordshire, on Saturday, May 2.
