TOP dogs Kington Town stretched their impressive unbeaten run in Division Two to 15 games with a scrappy 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton United at Mill Street.

Brian Dyer cleverly set up Dale Hodge to fire home the only goal of the game midway through the first half.

Hodge was then replaced by brother Aaron early in the second half and both the Kington leading scorer, back from a hamstring injury, and fellow substitute Ryan Newton came close to adding a second goal against dogged opponents.

Last Wednesday a makeshift Kington side missing a handful of regulars lost 2-1 to Spar Mid-Wales League opponents Rhosgoch in the semi-final of the Otway Cup at Presteigne.

Trailing to a first half penalty from Joey Price, they came back strongly after the break and after Nick Evans had struck a post, Ryan Newton’s cross was turned home by half-time substitute Ricky Dyer.

Kington looked the most likely winners but it was Rhosgoch who clinched a place in the final against Hay St Mary's when Ryan Stokes struck in the last five minutes.
