KINGTON Town maintained their lead at the top of the West Midlands (Regional) League Division 2 table thanks to a 1-0 over Bartley Green Illey.

The visitors had to battle hard in the first half to stay in the game, with Zeke Vivian again in excellent form to preserve his sides clean sheet.

Both teams created chances in the second half with both goalkeepers making saves to keep the scores level.

The decisive goal came from a moment of magic from Dale Hodge, skipping past three defenders before squaring to Nick Evans in the middle who coolly tapped home from close range to secure the three points.

It was a vital win for Kington following a goalless draw against Malvern Under-21s in their previous game.

Lads Club recorded a 1-0 win against bottom side Wyrley that sees them move up to fifth in West Midlands (Regional) League Division 1, while Bartestree battled out a mid-table 3-3 draw with Penncroft.

This weekend sees Lads Club and Bartestree contest a Division 1 Cup game.

The second round encounter at Bartestree kicks off at 3pm.

Bromyard Town, who were not in action last Saturday, entertain Penncroft.
