WELLINGTON failed to overcome Wellington Amateurs in a game that saw the visitors end the game with ten men in West Midlands (Regional) Premier Division.

Derek Williams side started well and had a couple of good chances with Ben Fischer and Steve Brotherwood both going close during the early stages.

Wellington did manage to break down their opponents and edged in front shortly afterwards with Brotherwood sending a low drive from the edge of the box into the back of the net to give his side the lead after 21 minutes.

Wellington Amateurs were then reduced to ten men when Josh Hunt was bought down as he raced towards goal.

The sending off lifted the visitors and Wellington struggled to take advantage of the extra man.

They did have chances to put the game to bed, however, but both Steve Brotherwood and Ben Fischer failed to convert their opportunities.

Wellington were made to pay heavily for their inability to score a second goal when, late on in the game, they conceded a late leveller.

The point sees Wellington stay in 11th place in the league table.

They face a trip to 18th place Willenhall Town this weekend.
