ENGLAND blind football coach Jon Pugh was pleased with the victory over Japan despite struggling early doors.

"It was a good performance for about 20 minutes of the game, before that we weren't as good as we could have been," said Pugh, who lives in Hereford.

"But we finally got into the pace of the match and thought we dominated and rightly got the result we wanted.

"It's difficult for the players because they're in their home city of Hereford and we always want to put on a show for people watching.

"I think the first goal settled us down and you saw a different team after that."

Pugh added that the return of star player Robin Williams will strengthen his squad.

"He is arguably one of the best dribblers in the world," said Pugh.

"He is on track and should be available in the next couple of weeks.

"Add him to the squad will give us a really good opportunity to maintain our unbeaten run and get us to where we need to be by August."

Pugh said that there is still time for players to force their way into the team.

"We have been taking players out of the National League which have some good players," he said.

"We have been introducing new players to see what they can do.

"It''s probably not a settled squad outside of the contracted players so other players can come in.

"But by August we'll ensure we'll have the best squad available with two of the best goalkeepers around."
