A FIRST half blitz saw Pegasus Juniors comfortably beat Wednesfield in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division on Tuesday night.

The match kicked off at 8.10pm rather than 7.45pm due to Wednesfield being stuck in traffic.

But the delay did not affect Chris Hyde's team as they recorded their third win in their last five games.

Chris Mortlock and a brace from Sam Pearson secured the win for Pegasus, who jump up to 12th in the table.

It was a good few days for Pearson as his last minute goal rescued a point for his time at Haughmond last Saturday.

Pearson was on hand to score with a well-taken goal for Pegasus, who bounced back well from their defeat against Bewdley.

Haughmond took the lead against the run of play after 15 minutes before adding a second shortly before half-time.

Pegasus improved after the break and Mortlock forced a save out of the Haughmond goalkeeper.

But the striker was on hand to score after 67 minutes when he netted a rebound after his initial shot was saved.

The hosts made several changes as they tried to hold onto their lead.

But Pegasus continued to exert pressure on their defence and were celebrating when Pearson netted in the first minute of added on time.
