WELLINGTON saw their five match unbeaten run end with a 5-2 defeat to Shawbury United in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

The villagers conceded a goal after three minutes, and although Ben Fischer managed to pull the home side level after being put through by Jamie Yau, Wellington never looked like being able to compete with their higher placed opponents.

Defensive errors amongst their back four allowed the away team to go in at the half time break with a 3-1 lead.

Chances of a second half comeback for the home side were cut when Ben Thomas was sent off saw red.

Wellington went further behind on the hour mark as before Andy Price got on the scoresheet.

Derek Williams' team should have pulled another goal back when Jordan Thefall set up Ben Fischer, who instead of grabbing his second of the game, blazed over from four yards.

Shawbury killed off any hopes of a Wellington come-back with a fifth goal, condemning Wellington to their first defeat in six.

Pegasus saw their Old School Lane pitch succumb to the wet weather with their game against Wellington Amateurs being postponed due to a water logged pitch.

They were due to travel to Bewdley last night, while Wellington were at Dudley Town.

Bartestree's Division 1 game against St Martins and Kington Town's Division 2 encounter at Warstone Wanderers were both postponed.
